This program requires an assessment; offer to students 12 years and older
Pointe is the action of rising to the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires considerable strength and skill and is a central part of a professional female ballet dancer's training and repertory.
Students must be in at least grade IV ballet and be recommended/assessed by a teacher. Being placed in a pointe class prior to the student being physically able to handle pointe work can cause injuries. At Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance, we strive for good technique and injury avoidance. We cannot advance a ballet student into a pointe using pointe shoes if they are physically not ready for it.
We use the first 4 to 6 weeks of a child's enrolment in any class to ensure that your child is in the best level for their ability.
